Resident Evil Village Comparison Shows Switch 2 Outperforming Xbox Series S in Some Scenarios

by Salal Awan

A new graphics comparison video for Resident Evil Village suggests that the Nintendo Switch 2 version may outperform the Xbox Series S in certain visual and performance aspects.

The comparison, which evaluates the Switch 2 version alongside the Xbox Series S and PlayStation 5 editions, highlights several differences in image quality, resolution, and performance. According to the analysis, the Switch 2 version appears to deliver a higher level of visual detail and resolution compared to the Xbox Series S version.

However, there are also technical trade-offs between the platforms. Unlike the Xbox Series S and PlayStation 5 versions, the Switch 2 release does not include ray tracing features. The absence of ray tracing is particularly noticeable in areas such as ambient occlusion and lighting detail, where the other console versions demonstrate more advanced effects.

In terms of performance, the comparison suggests that the Switch 2 version can deliver a higher frame rate than the Xbox Series S when ray tracing is enabled on Microsoft’s console. Despite this advantage, the Switch 2 build does not appear to reach a full 60 FPS during gameplay.

Resident Evil Village Gold Edition launched natively for Nintendo Switch 2 on February 27, 2026, marking the first time the game has been playable on Nintendo hardware without relying on cloud streaming technology.

Performance observations indicate that the game maintains a generally stable experience, although occasional frame rate fluctuations may occur during more intense combat encounters, particularly when multiple enemies are present.

The Switch 2 version also includes the full Gold Edition package, featuring the Shadows of Rose expansion along with improved loading speeds. The release represents a notable technical showcase for the Nintendo Switch 2 hardware as developers continue exploring its capabilities across modern multiplatform titles.
