Retroid to Raise RP6 8GB Price by $15, Discontinues 12GB Model Over Memory Costs

by Salal Awan

Retroid has announced a pricing adjustment for the Retroid Pocket 6, confirming that the 8GB model will increase in price by $15 beginning March 2, 2026. At the same time, the company is discontinuing the 12GB variant entirely, citing escalating global memory costs.

In a statement addressing customers, Team Retroid said the decision comes amid “significant changes in the global memory market — including ongoing shortages and sharply rising costs for both RAM and storage.” As a result, the company will raise the price of the 8GB configuration starting Monday, March 2, 2026.

The 12GB model will no longer be offered. Retroid explained that the recent surge in memory pricing has reached a point where it can no longer absorb the additional supplier costs. “Under the new supplier costs, we cannot continue offering the 12GB configuration at a reasonable price,” the company stated.

Existing orders for the 12GB version that have not yet shipped will not be affected. Retroid confirmed it will honor the original pricing and fulfill all previously placed orders without changes. “We will of course honor the original pricing, and we will fulfill every order that has already been placed,” the statement reads.

The company described the move as unavoidable under current market conditions. “This is not a decision we take lightly. We have worked hard to shield our community from market volatility for as long as possible, but the current conditions leave us no alternative. We remain committed to delivering the best possible products, at the lowest costs possible.”

The Retroid Pocket 6 launched in early 2026 as the company’s latest flagship device. Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, it marked a shift toward enthusiast-level hardware capable of handling demanding emulation, including PlayStation 2 and GameCube titles at higher internal resolutions. The handheld also features a 5.5-inch 1080p AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. While the 12GB model is being phased out, the 8GB version will remain available as the standard configuration going forward.
