Details regarding the review embargo for Sony Interactive Entertainment and Team Ninja’s upcoming action role-playing game, Rise of the Ronin, have been revealed.
The review embargo for Rise of the Ronin is expected to be lifted in a few weeks, on Thursday, March 21, 2024. This is a day ahead of the game’s launch on March 22, 2024. Fans can, therefore, look forward to hearing what critics have to say about the 19th century tale of the Boshin war.
Additionally, the pre-load for Rise of the Ronin is expected to go live on PlayStation Network on March 15, 2024, a week prior to the game’s launch. It will come with the latest update i.e. version 1.001.001, pre-installed for those who pre-ordered a digital copy of the game, though a day one update may be rolled out closer to launch on March 22, 2024. Meanwhile, those who purchased the game on disc will need to download the day one update.
Meanwhile, the download size of Rise of the Ronin is a hefty 96.343 GB. In terms of file size, it is one of the biggest games on the PS5. Those with limited available space on the internal storage drive are advised to clear up some space in advance. It goes without saying that internal SSD expansion options are available for those who need them.
Rise of the Rōnin gives players the opportunity to create their own custom character. Combat mechanics include a diverse selection of weapons commonly used during the Boshin war, including katanas and various firearms from that era. Players will encounter pivotal moments in the story where they can make choices, determining whether to align with or oppose different non-player characters, thus influencing the narrative. The game will take players through historically significant cities, such as Yokohama, Kyoto, and Edo, as well as rural areas. The game features various modes of transportation, such as horseback riding, grappling hooks, and gliders, for quicker traversal.
