Robin Reportedly Set to Appear in The Batman Part II as Filming Prepares to Begin This Spring

The upcoming sequel to Matt Reeves’ The Batman is reportedly set to introduce Robin, marking a significant development for the gritty, grounded take on Gotham’s protector. According to industry insider Jeff Sneider, the script for The Batman Part II features the iconic sidekick, with sources describing the story as a bold and ambitious step for Reeves and co-writer Mattson Tomlin. The film is expected to retain the dark tone of its 2022 predecessor, which earned $772 million worldwide, while expanding its scope in a way that should intrigue both fans and Hollywood talent alike.

Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav recently confirmed in a letter to shareholders that The Batman Part II will begin filming this spring, targeting an October 1, 2027 theatrical release. He also reaffirmed that the film will be a core part of DC Studios’ 10-year vision, alongside spinoff projects such as The Penguin. While specific plot details remain under wraps, early impressions from those familiar with the script suggest it was “worth the wait” and represents a “big swing” for the creative team.

If these reports hold true, The Batman Part II would mark the first appearance of Robin in a live-action Batman film since 1997’s Batman & Robin. This addition could bring a fresh dynamic to Robert Pattinson’s brooding portrayal of the Dark Knight while staying within the more grounded tone established in Reeves’ first film. With filming just months away, anticipation for Gotham’s next chapter is already building.
