ROG Xbox Ally Handhelds Release Date Leaked Ahead Of Official Announcement

The release date for the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X has reportedly been revealed ahead of an official announcement.

According to information received by well-known Dealabs leaker billbil-kun, the ROG Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X consoles will officially launch on October 16, 2025. They mentioned that this date currently applies to European markets, and while it is highly likely, it remains to be seen whether other regions will receive a simultaneous launch.

The leaker also shared that the official release date announcement for the ROG Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X is expected to happen later this month during Gamescom 2025 , where Xbox will hold a special live broadcast on August 20, 2025, starting at 6 AM PT / 2 PM CET . This segment, which has already been announced by Xbox, will be dedicated to the presentation of portable consoles, with preview demonstrations accessible to visitors.

Lastly, billbil-kun also mentioned the names of some of the retail partners for the ROG Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X. As per them, the upcoming handhelds will be available at retailers such as Micromania, Boulanger, Amazon. Unlike some limited edition controllers, the ROG Xbox Ally handhelds will not be exclusive to the Microsoft Store, making it easier for the general public to purchase them.

For the uninitiated, both configurations of the ROG Xbox Ally are powered by AMD Ryzen Z2 series APUs. The standard model comes with the Ryzen Z2 A, a quad-core chip built on the Zen 2 architecture and paired with eight RDNA 2 GPU cores. The more advanced Ally X model features the Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme, which uses a six-core Zen 5 CPU, integrates sixteen RDNA 3.5 GPU cores, and includes a dedicated neural processing unit (NPU). Memory and storage differ between the two, with the base model offering 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512 GB of storage, while the Ally X includes 24 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD.
