A new rumor circulating online suggests that Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis may no longer meet its previously planned 2026 release window. According to claims shared by the account Society of Raiders, the game is now targeting a launch in February 2027.
The account stated, “Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is rumored to be released in February 2027.” In a follow-up message, it added, “We get why the lack of a source can be a bit annoying, but we can’t share it for obvious reasons. That’s why it’s marked as a rumor and not a fact. It’s up to you believe it or not, just keep things kind and respectful.” The source has previously shared Tomb Raider-related information, including details tied to a remake reveal at The Game Awards.
If accurate, the reported February 2027 timing would indicate a delay from the game’s original 2026 target. Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis was officially revealed during The Game Awards 2025 as a reimagining of the 1996 original. Developed by Crystal Dynamics in collaboration with Flying Wild Hog using Unreal Engine 5, the project is positioned as a key entry in a unified timeline for the franchise.
The game follows Lara Croft, voiced by Alix Wilton Regan, as she travels across locations such as Peru and Egypt in pursuit of the Scion artifact. It aims to combine the deliberate exploration and puzzle-solving roots of the original with updated traversal systems and expanded storytelling.
The rumor surfaces amid a challenging period for Crystal Dynamics, which has undergone multiple rounds of layoffs between 2025 and 2026. The most recent cuts in March 2026 affected 20 employees, following earlier reductions in late 2025. While studio leadership has maintained that ongoing projects remain unaffected and development continues under its publishing agreement with Amazon Games, the situation has raised questions about timelines across its portfolio.
At the time of writing, there has been no official confirmation regarding a delay for Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis.
