Rumor Points to April 16 Microsoft Showcase Featuring Metro 2039 Reveal

by Salal Awan

A new rumor suggests that Microsoft may host a showcase on April 16, with the event potentially serving as the stage for the reveal of Metro 2039. The claim comes from insider NateTheHate, who shared the information in a recent post.

According to him, “The Microsoft show will broadcast on April 16th & is the venue of choice for the Metro 2039 reveal. I don’t know the branding of the show.” While the nature of the presentation remains unclear, the statement points to a possible announcement tied to the long-running Metro franchise.

NateTheHate also addressed separate speculation regarding a PlayStation State of Play rumored for the same date, noting, “Before anyone asks: No, I have not been able to confirm the previously rumored State of Play date information yet.” This adds some uncertainty, as earlier claims had suggested that a Metro title could appear during a Sony presentation instead.

The overlap in rumored dates has led to speculation that details may have been mixed between sources, though it is also possible that multiple events could take place on April 16. At this stage, neither Microsoft nor Sony has confirmed any presentations for that date.

Previous reports have indicated that a new Metro entry, potentially a sequel to Metro Exodus, has been in development and nearing a reveal. However, official details regarding the project remain limited, and no announcement has been made.
