Marvelous has revealed that Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, the latest entry in the long-running farming and role-playing hybrid series, has surpassed 500,000 units shipped worldwide. The title is available now on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and Steam.

Set in the eastern-inspired land of Azuma, the game blends life simulation with fantasy adventure. Players are tasked with restoring a village that serves as their home base while exploring both land and sky in search of divine powers to save a world on the brink of collapse. Alongside the adventure, daily life unfolds with farming, rebuilding, and romance options that allow players to shape their own story.

A highlight of this installment is its romance system, which features a record-breaking 16 romance candidates, including options available through downloadable content. The game also includes same-sex marriage and romance between protagonists, marking an important step for inclusivity within the series. Storylines and romance scenarios are fully voiced, adding a richer dimension to the narrative and character interactions.

Multiple editions of the game are available, with prices ranging from 7,678 yen for the standard version to 11,528 yen for the premium digital deluxe edition. A Nintendo Switch 2 edition is also offered at 8,678 yen, with an upgrade path available for players who purchased the standard release.

In our review, Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma received a score of 8 out of 10. The game was praised for its breezy charm, refined combat, and vibrant seasonal world. While its simplified farming mechanics and familiar amnesiac storyline may not fully satisfy long-time fans, the title was recognized as a polished and accessible blend of farming simulation and action role-playing, making it especially welcoming for newcomers.

Released on June 5, 2025, Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma represents a strong continuation of the franchise, balancing its cozy village life with strategic boss battles and an emphasis on character-driven storytelling. With shipment numbers climbing past the half-million mark, it stands as a successful entry that continues to broaden the series’ audience.
