Sony Interactive Entertainment and Housemarque’s upcoming action game, Saros, has been rated in Taiwan, indicating that the game will be up for pre-order sometime soon.
The Standard and Digital Deluxe editions for Saros have been rated today by the Taiwan Entertainment Software Rating Information board (via Gematsu on Blue Sky). The upcoming action title has received a rating of PG-15, making it suitable for player aged 15 and above. Violence is listed as a component of the game’s “Plots”, and is a key reason behind the aforementioned rating.
The gameplay reveal for Saros highlighted it as a bullet-hell third-person shooter, staying true to Housemarque’s roots while introducing fresh mechanics. Unlike Returnal, which was known for its punishing loop, the upcoming title promises more persistent progression between deaths, potentially broadening its appeal. Set on the world of Carcosa, Saros focuses on Soltari Enforcer Arjun Devraj (portrayed by Rahul Kohli) as he searches for a missing colony from another world. Devraj wields the Soltari Shield, which can block incoming strikes and absorb the energy of enemy projectiles. This stored power allows his right arm to morph into Carcosan Power Weapons, which can then be released against foes. As players explore Carcosa, they will discover Soltari Holograms that reveal the planet’s lore and the events that shaped its past.
The game appears to be targeting a frame rate of 60 fps on the standard PS5, with internal resolutions ranging between 1080p and 1152p. While this means image quality may not be ideal, the focus on fluid performance remains an important part of Housemarque’s reputation for prioritizing responsive gameplay. Meanwhile, the PS5 Pro version of Saros is expected to boast superior image quality via PSSR upscaling and a higher internal resolution. It may also offer some ray tracing features, as was the case with the PC version of Returnal.
Saros is set to release exclusively for PlayStation 5 on March 20, 2026.
