Paramount Pictures has released the first trailer for Scary Movie 6, alongside an official story synopsis that confirms the return of the franchise’s original core cast. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on June 12, 2026.
The studio shared the trailer on YouTube, accompanied by the following synopsis:
“Twenty-six years after outrunning a suspiciously familiar masked killer (“Ghostface”), the Core Four are back in the killer’s crosshairs and no horror movie IP is safe. Marlon Wayans (“Shorty”), Shawn Wayans (“Ray”), Anna Faris (“Cindy”), and Regina Hall (“Brenda”) reunite in Scary Movie alongside returning favorites and fresh faces to slash through reboots, remakes, requels, prequels, sequels, spin-offs, elevated horror, origin stories, anything with the word legacy in it, and every “final chapter” that absolutely isn’t final. Nothing is sacred. No trope survives. Every line gets crossed. The Wayans are back to cancel the Cancel Culture.”
Scary Movie 6 marks the first time since 2001 that Keenen Ivory Wayans, Marlon Wayans, and Shawn Wayans have returned to write and produce the series. Their involvement signals a return to the franchise’s earlier style, which leaned heavily into R-rated, boundary-pushing parody.
The film reunites Cindy Campbell and Brenda Meeks with Shorty and Ray, positioning them once again at the center of a horror spoof narrative. The new installment takes aim at modern “elevated horror” trends and recent slasher revivals.
Footage from the trailer includes parody sequences referencing titles such as Smile, Get Out, A Quiet Place, and Longlegs, along with a subway confrontation involving characters styled after M3GAN and Ghostface. The preview also features a send-up of the mall massacre sequence from Terrifier 3.
With its original creative team back in place and a theatrical release locked in for mid-June 2026, Scary Movie 6 represents a revival effort for a franchise that has been dormant for more than a decade.
