Shenmue III Enhanced has re-emerged with new details and its first official trailer, confirming an expanded release across modern platforms. The updated version of Ryo Hazuki’s journey is set to launch on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch 2, with pre-orders now live for multiple editions.
The announcement follows its initial reveal in 2025, with publishers now sharing a closer look at the enhanced version through newly released footage. The trailer also includes a message from series creator Yu Suzuki, addressing fans as development continues. While a final release date has not yet been confirmed, more information is expected in the coming weeks.
This updated edition focuses on both visual upgrades and gameplay refinements. Improvements include sharper textures, higher quality environments, and smoother overall performance, alongside faster loading times. Support for modern upscaling technologies such as DLSS and FSR has also been confirmed, allowing for improved image quality without a significant impact on performance.
Additional changes extend to gameplay and usability. The number of non-player characters in areas such as Niaowu has been increased to create a more active world, while a new optional camera mode offers a perspective inspired by earlier entries in the series. Players will also find adjustments to systems such as stamina and progression, along with quality of life updates like the ability to skip cutscenes and conversations, wider timing windows for quick time events, and streamlined menus.
Importantly, these adjustments are designed with flexibility in mind. Many of the new features can be toggled, allowing players to retain the original experience if preferred.
Alongside the standard edition, a Special Edition and Collector’s Edition have been announced, both available to pre-order starting today. The reveal also showcased new cover artwork for the game, offering a first look at its visual presentation across platforms. Notably, the Nintendo Switch 2 version will be released on a full physical cartridge.
