Shift Up is looking to bring its action-adventure game, Stellar Blade, to platforms beyond PS5 and PC in order to broaden audience reach.
During a Q&A session on the occasion of its fourth quarter earnings call for the year 2025, Shift Up was asked about the expected achievements for Stellar Blade in the yer 2026. In response, the company stated that Stellar Blade has established itself as a steady, long-tail IP, supported by sustained sales momentum and strong user reception since launch. Building on this foundation, development of the next project is progressing in a structured manner, and the team is reviewing plans to share additional details on Stellar Blade 2 within this year.
In parallel, Shift Up is reviewing platform expansion for Stellar Blade beyond PS5 and PC to broaden audience reach. According to the company, this approach is expected to both introduce the title to new players and gradually build anticipation for the next chapter in the series. The developer expects 2026 to be a year in which more users experience Stellar Blade while momentum and anticipation builds toward the next phase of the franchise.
According to a report on PlayForum in June, 2025, Shift Up held an event to celebrate its recent sales milestone of 3 million copies, during which it was revealed that, following the game’s success on PS5 and PC, the studio had officially started work on a Nintendo Switch 2 port. The report mentioned that, at the time, Shift Up had acquired official devkits for the console, and had already started preliminary work on a port.
As for the sequel, last month, the official Stellar Blade Twitter/X account shared that the development team at Shift Up had finished a location scout for its next title. The post was accompanied by a post-apocalyptic rendition of a real life photograph of buildings in the Chinese city of Chongqing, suggesting that Stellar Blade 2 may take place in the “cyberpunk city.” Read about it here.
