Shin Megami Tensei and other Atlus titles are headed to the Netflix game platform, based on the latest rumor.
According to Twitter user MbKKssTBhz5, who is prominently known for their leaks regarding Atlus titles, Atlus is currently developing multiple titles for the Netflix mobile game platform, including a game related to the Shin Megami Tensei series.
Meanwhile, Universo Nintendo’s Editor-in-Chief necrolipe mentioned that this is news to him, as he knows about only one Shin Megami Tensei game that is currently in development. The source didn’t state whether the Shin Megami Tensei title planned for release on Netflix’s game platform will be an new release or a port of an existing entry. The most recent entry in the series, Shin Megami Tensei V, is a role-playing game released in 2021 for the Nintendo Switch. The game was produced by Kazuyuki Yamai, the director of Shin Megami Tensei IV, and was designed as a hybrid of Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne and Shin Megami Tensei IV, incorporating familiar gameplay elements like demon raising and fusion.
This isn’t the first we’ve heard of Netflix pursuing mainstream titles for its game platform. In November 2023, Netflix announced the release of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition for Android and iOS on December 14 through the App Store and Google Play. The game was made available for both Netflix subscribers and individual purchase. The mobile ports, developed by Video Games Deluxe, addressed additional bugs and introduced a lighting option to match the original games.
This compilation includes three action-adventure games from the Grand Theft Auto series: Grand Theft Auto III (2001), Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (2002), and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (2004). Developed by Grove Street Games and published by Rockstar Games, all three games underwent remastering with visual enhancements and gameplay upgrades. Each game features distinct protagonists and locations within the same continuity.
