SEGA has released a new trailer for Shinobi: Art of Vengeance, confirming that the side-scrolling action title will officially launch worldwide on August 29, 2025. The game, developed in partnership with French studio Lizardcube, will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam at a price of 29.99 US dollars.
The title marks the return of SEGA’s long-running Shinobi franchise, presented in a hand-drawn visual style reminiscent of Lizardcube’s earlier work on Streets of Rage 4. In Art of Vengeance, players step into the role of a modern ninja confronting a new wave of enemies across varied stages designed in the style of classic arcade platformers.
Players who purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition can access the game three days early, beginning August 26. A free demo is also currently available across all platforms, offering an expanded version of the game’s opening stage.
SEGA has additionally revealed post-launch content plans. Owners of the Digital Deluxe Edition or those who pre-order the Limited Run Games physical Collector’s Edition by September 7 will receive access to the SEGA Villains Stage DLC, expected in early 2026. The downloadable content will feature boss encounters with characters from SEGA’s wider catalog, including Dr. Eggman from the Sonic the Hedgehog series. Additional characters have yet to be announced.
The Shinobi franchise originated in 1987 and has spanned multiple sequels across arcade and home platforms, becoming one of SEGA’s defining action series during the late 1980s and 1990s. Art of Vengeance represents the first new entry in over a decade, following a 2011 release on Nintendo 3DS.
