Former Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios head Shuhei Yoshida has shared his hands-on impressions from Sucker Punch Productions’ upcoming action-adventure game, Ghost Of Yotei.
During a recent interview, former Sony Interactive Entertainment executive Shuhei Yoshida was asked about Ghost of Yotei and how he had been looking forward to it. In response, said that of all the development teams he has worked with, Sucker Punch Productions and Naughty Dog always make games that feel right.

According to Yoshida, Sucker Punch Productions’ games feel so natural and intuitive to play that you tends to forget holding the controller. He mentioned that the studio always has and maintains their projects in a playable state, and that every time you play it, it is somehow bug-free. The in-development build doesn’t crash and, despite the battle system being change many times by the development team, it always works, allowing the publishing side to give their feedback.
The former Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios head was on the publishing side, and he got to play many different versions of Ghost of Tsushima and Ghost of Yotei. Before he left the company, the latter’s producer brought Yoshida to his room and let him get some hands-on time with it in order to get his feedback. According to him, the game always felt great to play, and he’s really looking forward to it.
Recently, the official PlayStation website had been updated with new information regarding Ghost of Yotei, including some of the new weapons that protagonist Atsu will use. The reveal trailer already hinted at the inclusion of dual katanas and the kusarigama, but the site also confirmed one additional weapon, the Odachi. According to the website, Ghost of Yotei has been designed from the ground up for the PlayStation 5 hardware. As such, it features massive sightlines that will let players look far across the environment, suggesting much higher draw distance and distant level of detail compared to Ghost of Tsushima. Atmospheric rendering has also seen improvements, with skies showing twinkling stars and auroras. To add to the immersion, vegetation sways realistically in the wind.
