EXNOA and Tookyo Games have released Shuten Order for Nintendo Switch 2, along with a separate upgrade pack allowing owners of the original Nintendo Switch version to access the newly enhanced edition. Spike Chunsoft is handling digital distribution in North America and Europe, where both products became available on November 27.
The Nintendo Switch 2 edition introduces technical improvements, including a variable frame rate ranging from 60 to 120 frames per second in both handheld and docked modes. The release also adds full mouse support in all gameplay contexts where pointer input is permitted.
A launch promotion discounts the new edition by up to 10 percent in select regions. In North America, the offer runs on the Nintendo eShop from November 27 through December 4. Availability windows differ across Europe, beginning on November 28 in the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Portugal, and on November 27 for other territories. Regional eShop listings reflect local pricing and eligibility.
The upgrade pack allows players who already own Shuten Order on Nintendo Switch to convert their software license to the Nintendo Switch 2 version for a cost of $2.49. This pack is compatible only with Nintendo Switch 2 hardware and does not support cross-play or cross-platform functionality. The announcement does not clarify if saved data from the original release can be transferred or if users will need to redownload the full game after purchasing the upgrade.
Shuten Order is a multi-genre adventure title developed jointly by DMM Games and Tookyo Games under the direction of Kazutaka Kodaka, known for the Danganronpa series. The game incorporates five gameplay formats, including stealth segments, action horror mechanics, and multi-perspective narrative sequences. Development work was handled by Neilo, with illustrations by Simadoriru and music by Masafumi Takada. The Nintendo Switch 2 edition features Japanese voice audio and English text, and carries a Mature rating from the ESRB.
Spike Chunsoft manages publishing for North American and European territories, while DMM Games publishes in Japan. The companies stated that additional updates for Shuten Order will be announced next week, though no specifics regarding content or technical adjustments were included.
