Silent Hill 2 Remake Website Update Hints at Two Unannounced Platforms

by Ali Haider

Bloober Team appears to be preparing for the next phase of Silent Hill 2 Remake’s release, as recent changes to the official website suggest that new platforms may soon be announced. The updated webpage now includes two additional platform slots, which are currently blank but structured as placeholders in the site’s source code.

Upon verification of the website’s HTML data, these div elements are clearly present and positioned alongside existing platform listings. While the placeholders remain inactive, their inclusion indicates plans to expand availability beyond the PlayStation 5 and PC. Given the timing, the most plausible candidates are the Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2, aligning with the end of Silent Hill 2’s PlayStation exclusivity period this October.

Rumors surrounding the expansion have circulated for months. In September, reports suggested that Bloober Team was preparing both new content and technical upgrades for Silent Hill 2 Remake. According to insider Dusk Golem, the studio is developing a patch to optimize the game for the PlayStation 5 Pro while also working on new downloadable content, potentially reviving the fan-favorite side story Born From a Wish.

Born From a Wish originally appeared in special editions of the 2001 classic, offering a narrative focused on Maria, one of the game’s central characters. The scenario explores her emotional turmoil and her encounter with Ernest Baldwin in a secluded mansion, providing deeper context to her motivations and expanding on the game’s overarching themes of grief and guilt.

Insider NateTheHate previously claimed that announcements regarding additional platforms could not be made until the exclusivity arrangement with Sony had expired. “Any announcement cannot be made until the exclusive deal with Sony expires in October,” he stated, implying that further platform news may emerge shortly after that timeframe.

Released on October 8, 2024, Silent Hill 2 Remake was developed by Bloober Team and published by Konami Digital Entertainment. The game serves as a reimagining of the 2001 original developed by Team Silent, featuring direction from Bloober Team’s Mateusz Lenart and production oversight by Konami’s Motoi Okamoto. Series veterans Masahiro Ito and Akira Yamaoka returned to contribute creature design and music composition, respectively, ensuring a faithful yet modernized revival of the psychological horror classic.
