Konami has announced that Silent Hill 2 has reached a new global milestone, with the game surpassing 5 million players worldwide. The update was shared through the official Silent Hill social media account, which thanked players for their continued support of the title.

In the announcement, the publisher stated, “Global cumulative player count has surpassed 5 million. Thank you to everyone who played.” According to the company, the figure includes sales of both physical and digital copies as well as players who accessed the game through subscription services. Konami clarified that the data reflects numbers recorded as of January 31, 2026, based on its internal research.

The player total appears to include users who experienced the game through subscription platforms. Silent Hill 2 was made available on PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium for a period of time, which likely contributed to the broader reach reflected in the latest count.

Originally released on October 8, 2024, for PlayStation 5 and PC, the Silent Hill 2 remake quickly gained momentum and became the fastest-selling entry in the long-running horror franchise. After a year of console exclusivity, the game later arrived on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S with a surprise launch on November 21, 2025, expanding its availability across the three major platforms.

Developed by Bloober Team in collaboration with Konami, the remake has maintained steady interest since release. While no additional downloadable content has been announced, the title continues to appear regularly in promotional sales, including several 50% discount events that ran during late 2025 and early 2026.
