Konami Digital Entertainment and NeoBards Entertainment’s survival horror game, Silent Hill f, may be headed to Nintendo Switch, PS4 and Xbox One.
The official page for Silent Hill f on Konami Digital Entertainment’s website has been updated with mention of the game being available for unannounced platforms, namely Nintendo Switch, PS4 and Xbox One. While this could be an error, it’s worth mentioning that this wouldn’t be the first time a title has been back ported to previous-gen platforms.
As of writing, there is no confirmation from Konami Digital Entertainment or NeoBards Entertainment on the development of Nintendo Switch, PS4 and Xbox One versions of Silent Hill f. The game can be quite taxing on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S hardware, which means that a previous-gen port would require major sacrifices in order to get up and running on much weaker consoles. Only time will tell whether this is actually the case.
In related news, according to Japan’s latest weekly sales chart, the Silent Hill franchise has made a major comeback in the country with the release of Silent Hill f. The game launched with impressive sales of 57,475 physical units during its first week. Not only did this earn it the top spot on the sales chart, it also turned out to be the strongest opening for the franchise in over two decades.
The first week of Silent Hill f comfortably surpasses most previous entries. The original Silent Hill for PlayStation launched back in March, 1999, with 100,840 units sold in its first week. No Silent Hill release since then had managed to break into those heights again. Silent Hill 2 on PlayStation 2 remains the franchise’s most comparable launch, selling 69,285 copies in its first week when it released in September, 2001.
Silent Hill f is available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC.
