Sega has officially revealed the title for the fourth Sonic the Hedgehog film, sharing a brief teaser that confirms the next entry in the series is on the way.
The announcement was accompanied by the line, “The countdown to chaos has begun. 💎 #SonicMovie4 – only in theatres March 19, 2027.” While the teaser itself remains minimal, it establishes the film’s release date and signals the start of its promotional cycle.
Sonic Movie 4 follows the strong performance of its predecessor, with Paramount Pictures having already greenlit the sequel. Director Jeff Fowler is returning to lead the project, with production having begun earlier this month.
The upcoming installment is expected to expand the series further, introducing Amy Rose and Metal Sonic, both of whom were previously teased. Returning cast members are set to include Ben Schwartz, Idris Elba, and Colleen O’Shaughnessey, while reports continue to suggest that Jim Carrey may reprise his role as Dr. Robotnik.
The Sonic film franchise has seen steady growth since its debut, surpassing $1 billion in global box office revenue. With Sonic the Hedgehog 3 reaching $492 million worldwide, the series has established itself as one of the most successful video game adaptations to date.
Sonic Movie 4 is scheduled to release in theaters on March 19, 2027.
