Sega and Sonic Team have announced that Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will arrive digitally for the Nintendo Switch 2 on December 4, 2025. This enhanced edition of the acclaimed racing title brings improved visuals and optimized performance tailored for the Switch 2. Players who already own the Nintendo Switch version can upgrade through the Switch 2 Upgrade Pack, available at a 50% discount until December 10. Additionally, early adopters of the Switch 2 Edition will receive the exclusive Werehog Pack bonus, redeemable until December 17.
Originally launched on September 25, 2025, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds introduced a fresh spin on kart racing by combining high-speed action with an innovative gameplay mechanic known as the Travel Ring system. This feature allows racers to teleport across 15 different “CrossWorlds,” dynamically altering track layouts mid-race and adding an unpredictable layer of excitement to each competition. The game quickly drew attention for its diverse roster of 23 racers, which includes both classic Sonic characters and notable guest drivers from other Sega franchises.
The upcoming Switch 2 Edition offers an enhanced visual experience with smoother frame rates and improved effects that fully utilize the new handheld’s hardware capabilities. The game is designed to be accessible to a wide audience, supporting both local and online multiplayer for up to 12 players. Additionally, it is compatible with all major play modes on the Switch 2. The game will also offer full language support, including English, Japanese, French, and several other languages.
