Sony Interactive Entertainment is sending out free PlayStation Store credit via email to select PSN users.
The console maker has begun distributing a small but welcome surprise to select PSN users in the form of free PlayStation Store credit. According to a promotional email sent out today (via Reddit), eligible players are receiving 5 USD in wallet funds, which can be redeemed directly through the PlayStation Store on PS5. The message arrives with a prominent “Wallet Credit” banner, making the email immediately recognizable to those who have it waiting in their inbox.
The email informs recipients that they can redeem a 5 US Dollars credit voucher that can be applied toward any purchase on the PlayStation Store, whether it be games, DLC, in-game currency, or discounted items available during ongoing holiday sales. The email states that the offer is “just for you,” indicating that it is a targeted promotion rather than a wide-scale giveaway.
In order to redeem the bonus store credit, PSN users are instructed to login to their PlayStation account on a PS5 console and navigate to the PlayStation Store. Under the Latest tab, a banner specifically tied to the voucher should appear. Selecting it and choosing Redeem will automatically add the 5 US Dollar store credit to the user’s wallet. From there, they’re set to spend it on any PlayStation Store purchase.
Sony periodically sends out promotional credits such as this one, often as part of engagement-driven initiatives or as a gesture of appreciation to active PSN members. While 5 US Dollars is a modest amount, it can go a surprisingly long way during sales promotions, especially for those who enjoy indie games or smaller digital releases.
If you’re a PlayStation 5 user, it’s worth going through your email, including your promotions or spam folders, to see whether you’ve received free store credit.
