Production is now officially underway for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the fourth installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man saga. The film, starring Tom Holland as Peter Parker, began filming earlier this month, and Marvel fans are already buzzing with speculation due to a series of intriguing teases and set photo leaks.
To celebrate Spider-Man Day, the official Spider-Man movie account posted a cryptic teaser on social media, simply stating “Something brand new is coming…” alongside the hashtag #SpiderManDay. The announcement was accompanied by a glimpse at what appears to be a new version of Peter Parker’s costume, though details remain deliberately obscured. The suit seems sleeker and may incorporate new tech or design elements not seen in previous iterations.
In addition to this teaser, set photos have begun to surface online, drawing immediate attention for one very specific detail. A vehicle spotted in the images bore a symbol nearly identical to that of the Inner Demons, a criminal gang prominently featured in Marvel’s Spider-Man video game series. This particular logo has sparked a wave of fan speculation, suggesting that Mister Negative, the Inner Demons’ leader, may make his live-action debut in the upcoming film.
Mister Negative, a lesser-known but increasingly popular villain in Spider-Man’s rogues’ gallery, was introduced in the comics in 2007. Known for his dual personality—philanthropist Martin Li and crime lord Mister Negative—the character possesses powers that include mind control, healing, and energy manipulation. His most notable recent appearance was in Marvel’s Spider-Man on PS5, where he served as a central antagonist. The visual similarities between the in-game Inner Demons and the set photos are difficult to ignore.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, the screenwriting duo behind the previous Spider-Man trilogy. The film stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Jon Bernthal. Filming is taking place at Pinewood Studios in England, with location shoots occurring in Glasgow, Scotland. The movie is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase Six and is scheduled for release on July 31, 2026.
