The first trailer for Spider-Man Brand New Day has reportedly set a new benchmark for viewership, surpassing 500 million views in less than 24 hours and overtaking the previous record held by Grand Theft Auto VI.

According to Global Box Office, “SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY first trailer has broken GTA 6 trailer 24h record (475M) in less than 12 hours to become the first trailer in history to hit 500M views in less than 24h.” Sony is expected to report official figures on Thursday, which will clarify the final count and confirm the milestone.

The trailer marks the first look at the next chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, following the events of Spider-Man No Way Home. Sony released the footage alongside the tagline, “A Brand New Day starts now,” while confirming a theatrical release date of July 31.

Story details indicate a notable shift for Peter Parker, with the character now living in isolation after removing himself from the memories of those closest to him. Set four years after the previous film, the narrative follows a more solitary Spider-Man operating in a city that no longer recognizes him, as mounting pressure leads to unexpected physical changes and the emergence of a new threat.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, the film is based on the Marvel comic by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. The cast includes Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, and Mark Ruffalo.

With official numbers still pending, the reported performance of the trailer points to significant early interest in Spider-Man Brand New Day ahead of its summer release.
