Sony has released the first official trailer for Spider-Man Brand New Day, offering an initial look at the next chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe ahead of its theatrical debut on July 31.
The studio shared the trailer with the tagline, “A Brand New Day starts now,” confirming the film will arrive exclusively in theaters this summer. Alongside the footage, Sony also revealed the first synopsis, outlining a significant shift in Peter Parker’s life following the events of Spider-Man No Way Home.
According to the official description, four years have passed since the previous film, with Peter now living in isolation after erasing himself from the memories of those closest to him. Operating in a New York City that no longer recognizes him, he has committed fully to his role as Spider-Man. This increased pressure begins to take a toll, leading to what is described as a physical evolution that could threaten his existence, while a new wave of crime introduces a powerful adversary.
The film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, based on the Marvel comic created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Production is led by Kevin Feige, Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, and Rachel O Connor, with Louis D Esposito and David Cain serving as executive producers.
Tom Holland returns as Peter Parker, joined by Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, and Mark Ruffalo. The cast suggests a mix of returning and new characters, with Bernthal and Mando expected to play notable roles in the unfolding conflict.
Spider-Man Brand New Day draws inspiration from the Marvel Comics storyline of the same name, which reset Peter Parker’s life and placed him back into a more grounded, street-level setting. The film appears to follow a similar direction, focusing on a solitary Spider-Man navigating a city that has forgotten him while confronting a growing criminal threat.
