Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures have officially lifted the curtain on Spider-Man’s latest suit design for the upcoming film Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Released as part of a short promotional video featuring Tom Holland in costume, the reveal came just as production kicked off for the fourth entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man series. Though brief, the footage offers a clear glimpse of the suit’s design details, including its altered color palette, larger spider emblem, and prominently featured web shooters.
The new design leans into a more grounded aesthetic, with changes that have immediately drawn comparisons to past cinematic iterations. The most noticeable elements include raised webbing across the red portions of the suit, which echoes the tactile style favored by longtime fans. The color scheme has also shifted, replacing the brighter, reflective blue tones seen in earlier MCU versions with a deeper, more muted shade. Observers have likened this update to Andrew Garfield’s suit in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, particularly in how the red panels are laid out and textured.
The chest emblem has been adjusted as well, now positioned slightly lower and appearing larger than before. Meanwhile, the web shooters—described by some as “bulky”—stand out as a pronounced mechanical feature. Early fan responses on social media have characterized the suit as a blend between the “final swing” suit from No Way Home and the streamlined design of Garfield’s portrayal. Some have noted that while it moves away from the sleek, futuristic elements of Holland’s previous MCU suits, it does not fully revert to the more traditional look of Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man either.
This unveiling arrives shortly after Marvel teased the new costume in a social media post commemorating Spider-Man Day, which hinted that “something brand new is coming.” Set photos that emerged around the same time showed a vehicle marked with the emblem of the Inner Demons, a criminal faction familiar to fans of the Spider-Man video game series. These visuals have fueled speculation that Mister Negative, the group’s formidable leader, may make his live-action debut in the upcoming film.
Alongside these costume and narrative teases, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is already shaping up to be one of the MCU’s most character-packed entries. As confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter, Mark Ruffalo will reprise his role as Bruce Banner, also known as the Hulk, making his return to the Spider-Man universe. Additionally, Michael Mando will once again play the Scorpion, last seen briefly in Spider-Man: Homecoming back in 2017.
Further expanding the film’s ensemble, Jon Bernthal has joined the cast to portray Frank Castle, better known as the Punisher. This marks the first time the character will appear on the big screen in the MCU and his first cinematic outing since 2008’s Punisher: War Zone.
Returning behind the camera are screenwriters Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, who previously penned all three of Holland’s Spider-Man films. Direction is being handled by Destin Daniel Cretton, known for helming Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Filming is currently underway at Pinewood Studios in England, with some scenes also scheduled to be shot on location in Glasgow, Scotland.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set for release on July 31, 2026, as part of Marvel Studios’ Phase Six slate.
