Splatoon 2 Update 5.5.2 Fixes League Battle Power Issue for Cross-Platform Matches

by Ali Haider

Nintendo has released Version 5.5.2 of Splatoon 2, addressing a rare but impactful bug affecting League Battles. The issue occurred when players on both the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 participated in the same lobby, occasionally preventing League Power from updating correctly after matches. This fix ensures that League Battle rankings now reflect outcomes accurately, maintaining fair competition across both platforms.

While the update is small, it plays an important role in preserving leaderboard integrity and competitive balance for the remaining Splatoon 2 player base. As Nintendo continues to expand cross-generation support between the Switch and Switch 2 platforms, this patch provides a smoother and more reliable multiplayer experience for players still enjoying the colorful, fast-paced world of Splatoon 2.

Splatoon 2 is a vibrant third-person shooter developed and published by Nintendo, where players take control of Inklings and Octolings—humanoid characters capable of transforming into squids or octopuses. Players compete in colorful turf battles, covering arenas in ink to claim victory. The game offers several multiplayer and cooperative modes, including Turf War and Salmon Run, alongside a full single-player Hero Mode campaign.

Originally released on July 21, 2017, Splatoon 2 remains exclusive to the Nintendo Switch platform.
