EA and Hazelight Studios’ action-adventure game, Split Fiction, is now available on PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and if you’re on the fence about which version to pick up, read ahead.
The game offers a single display mode on PS5, PS5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. All consoles run the game at equivalent graphical settings. On PC, with a capable system, it’s possible to run Split Fiction with no graphical compromises compared to PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S versions. None of the platforms take advantage of Unreal Engine 5’s Lumen and Nanite technologies for improved lighting and geometric detail.
In terms of image quality, Split Fiction runs at a native resolution of 1800p on the PS5 and Xbox Series X, 4K (2160p) on the PS5 Pro, and 1080p on the Xbox Series S. It’s possible to run the game at native 4K on reasonably capable PC hardware.
With regards to performance, the PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S versions of Split Fiction target a frame rate of 60 fps, and successfully maintain it at all times. Meanwhile, on capable PCs, it’s possible to run the game above 60 fps.
All in all, the PC version of Split Fiction is the ideal way to play the game, while PS5 Pro offers the best possible console experience.
Split Fiction has received universal acclaim from game critics, resulting in an aggregate score of 91 on Metacritic. In doing so, Hazelight Studios’ new co-op action-adventure title has become the first EA-published 90+ scoring game in over a decade. It was recently revealed by the game’s director Josef Fares that the game takes around 12 to 14 hours to complete, depending on whether the player does all the side content. This duration comes in at around the same length as that of It Takes Two.
