Square Enix has revealed plans to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Chrono Trigger with a large-scale orchestra concert in Tokyo. Titled Chrono Trigger Orchestra Concert: A Melody That Transcends Time, the event will be held on January 17 and 18, 2026, at the Tokyo International Forum Hall A.
The performances will bring together the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of conductor Nicolas Bach. Accompanied by memorable scenes from the game, the music is designed to recreate the emotions players experienced during the original adventure. Square Enix described the concert as an opportunity to relive the timeless journey in a new format, combining orchestral arrangements with visual storytelling.
Ticket applications are being handled through a lottery system, rather than on a first-come, first-served basis. The application period begins September 1, 2025, at noon and closes on September 17. Winners will be notified by September 30, with payment required between September 30 and October 5. Prices are set at 11,000 yen for S-seat tickets and 8,800 yen for A-seat tickets, with additional handling and shipping fees applied. Tickets purchased through the Square Enix e-STORE will include special printed artwork.
Three performances are scheduled across the two-day event: an evening concert on January 17, followed by two additional shows on January 18, one at noon and another in the evening. Kyodo Tokyo is overseeing production, with Square Enix providing cooperation.
The announcement follows recent speculation surrounding the future of the franchise. Earlier reports had suggested that a Chrono Trigger remake might be in development after series co-creator Yuji Horii allegedly hinted at it during an event in Italy. However, later clarifications indicated that the supposed “reveal” was in fact a mistranslation by the interpreter, rather than a direct statement from Horii himself.
While fans may need to temper expectations regarding a remake, the confirmed anniversary concert provides a tangible way for long-time players to celebrate the beloved JRPG. With the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra set to bring the soundtrack to life, Chrono Trigger’s legacy continues to endure three decades after its original release.
