Square Enix Highlights Streamlined Progression in Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade With New Screenshots

Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will officially arrive on a wider range of platforms, with a new accessibility feature. The game is set for a January 22, 2026, release on Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows Store. The upcoming release will include a new optional mode called “Streamlined Progression.”

This new system is designed to help players who prefer to focus on the game’s narrative rather than its combat and exploration challenges. The feature allows players to turn on a number of assists, such as keeping maximum health and magic points, having a very high attack damage, and getting an unlimited supply of items. Players can turn these settings on or off at any point during the game from the options menu.

The game keeps its unique hybrid combat system, which mixes real-time action with strategic commands. Players can freely switch between party members and use classic abilities like Limit Breaks and Summons. This new edition of the game also comes with the additional story content, “Episode Intermission,” which provides a new perspective through the character Yuffie.

The addition of this new mode marks a change for the series. Final Fantasy games have typically required players to manage resources and use complex battle strategies. By providing these new optional adjustments, the developer aims to make the game more accessible to players who are new to the series or just want an easier experience.

This will be the first time Final Fantasy VII Remake is available on Nintendo and Xbox consoles. The expanded edition, originally for PlayStation, includes both the main game and the extra Yuffie content. Square Enix also confirmed that the Switch 2 and ROG Xbox Ally versions of the game will support handheld play. The game is the first part of a planned trilogy that retells and expands on the original Final Fantasy VII story from 1997.
