Star Wars: KOTOR Remake Release May “Hopefully” Happen In 2028

The remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) may “hopefully” be set for release sometime during 2028.

According to an alleged LinkedIn post attributed to Saber Interactive Chief Business Officer Steve Allison that has been shared online by Reddit user Tom_Ford0, the long-awaited Star Wars: KOTOR remake may still be alive. The post discussed Saber Interactive’s publishing philosophy and the company’s long-term roadmap. While outlining projects expected to for release as part of  the company’s lineup for 2028, Alliaon allegedly referenced several titles, including Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, Witch, and “hopefully” Star Wars: KOTOR remake.

The use of the word “hopefully” suggests that while the Star Wars: KOTOR remake is still in development, its inclusion in the 2028 plans is subject to change.

Elsewhere in the alleged post, Allison highlighted Saber Interactive’s approach to game publishing, distancing the company from aggressive monetization strategies. The post states, “As a company saber has never pursued mtx it’s not how we do our products. We sell the main game with a free dlc plan for the community and may do paid dlc.” Allison also assured fans that Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3  will build upon everything players enjoyed in its predecessor, stating that it is “going to be all the things you love about 2 plus more that leans into the things you call out that you love about it.”

Originally announced in 2021, the Star Wars: KOTOR remake disappeared from the spotlight amid reports of development difficulties. Although Saber Interactive later confirmed it had taken over development, the studio has shared very little regarding the game’s progress since then.

Back in December 2025, Game File’s Stephen Totilo shared that Mad Head Games, in collaboration with Saber Interactive, is now developing the Star Wars: KOTOR remake. His report originated from a lawsuit filed against Aspyr, the studio responsible for the 2022 Nintendo Switch port of KOTOR II. Read about it here.
