Star Wars Outlaws Docked Gameplay on Switch 2 Leaks Ahead of Release

by Ali Haider

Docked gameplay footage of Star Wars Outlaws running on the Nintendo Switch 2 has appeared online, just days before its official release. A 40-minute video, posted by the YouTube channel mataleao, gives an extended look at the game in docked mode. The footage is largely uncut and shows the game’s open-world exploration, brief technical details like reflections, and a sequence of traveling through large areas.

This leak follows widespread concern about the Switch 2 version’s performance. At PAX West 2025, attendees of hands-on sessions reported problems. While no recordings were allowed at the event, impressions from those who played suggested that Ubisoft’s use of ray-traced lighting and DLSS upscaling was not running smoothly. For example, Steve from the channel Good Vibes Gaming described the experience as “kind of rough,” noting that frame rates often fell below 30 frames per second during a section on an Imperial Star Destroyer.

Other criticisms included flat lighting on character models and uninspired space combat visuals compared to other consoles. These impressions worried fans, who feared the Switch 2 release might have significant compromises in performance and fidelity, much like some past Nintendo ports.

However, the new leaked footage seems to show a more stable experience in docked mode. Although it doesn’t completely eliminate all concerns, it highlights the ambition of bringing a large-scale, open-world Star Wars game to Nintendo’s new hardware. Ubisoft has also confirmed that Star Wars Outlaws will support cross-progression, allowing players to transfer their progress between platforms.

With Star Wars Outlaws launching on September 4, 2025, this leaked gameplay might be the best look fans get at the Switch 2 version before it’s released.
