Star Wars Outlaws PS5 vs Xbox Series vs PC Comparison

Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment’s action adventure game, Star Wars Outlaws, is now available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and if you’re on the fence about which version to pick up, read ahead.

The game offers 3 display modes on PS5, Xbox Series X i.e. Quality, Favor Quality, and Performance. In terms of graphical settings, Quality mode prioritizes some visual effects. Though, the most noticeable visual difference compared to performance mode is in the draw distance. In any case, there are no major differences between modes. Performance mode prioritizes 60fps at the expense of resolution and some visual settings. Meanwhile, the Xbox Series S version only offers one display mode, which exhibits minor visual cutbacks, mainly in terms of global illumination. On PC, it is possible to run Star Wars Outlaws at relatively higher graphical settings and get a better visual experience over the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions.

In terms of image quality, the PS5 and Xbox Series X run Star Wars Outlaws at a dynamic resolution in Quality mode that has an upper limit of 1620p. In Favor Quality mode, both consoles run the game at a dynamic resolution, with the upper limit dropped to 1200p. Lastly, in Performance, the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions run at a dynamic resolution, with the upper limit further reduced to 1080p. The Xbox Series X version exhibits a higher resolution on average compared to the PS5 version. Meanwhile, the Xbox Series S runs the game at a dynamic resolution, with the upper limit being 1080p. On the other hand, it’s possible to run the game at native 4K (2160p) on capable PC hardware.

With regards to performance, the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of Star Wars Outlaws target a frame rate of 30 fps in Quality mode, 40 fps in Favor Quality mode, and 60 fps in Performance mode. The frame rate isn’t particularly stable in Performance mode on either console. It’s worth noting that the Favour Quality mode is only available on 120 Hz displays. The PC version, on the other hand, is able to deliver stable performance on capable systems. Meanwhile, the Xbox Series S version targets a frame rate of 30 fps in its only available display mode.

All in all, the PC version of Star Wars Outlaws is the ideal way to play the game, while the best possible console experience is on Xbox Series X.
