Bethesda Softworks will announce and release the PS5 version of its action role-playing game, Starfield, this year in 2025, based on a new rumor.
Known insider and content creator NateTheHate (aka NateDrake) took to Twitter/X to share that Starfield is set for a PS5 release later this year in 2025, and that the announcement should happen sometime prior. He added that it’s just a matter of ‘when’ rather than ‘if’ at this point.

The insider expects the gap between the announcement and release of the PS5 version of Starfield to be minimal. With the Xbox Games Showcase coming up on June 8, 2025, it’s possible that Microsoft and Bethesda Softworks may be looking to make the announcement soon, with the release happening sometime during the summer.
Nate also hinted that Microsoft will also be looking to announce its slate of first-party games for the Nintendo Switch 2, possibly during or after the Xbox Games Showcase. It wouldn’t be surprising, as the likely reason the company hasn’t already done so for the original Switch is the platform’s limited hardware capability. Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer has made it clear that he wants more people to engage with the games that the company’s first-party studios are building, whether that’s through Xbox, other hardware, desktop PCs, handheld PCs, Cloud, or phones. While he’s fond of the experience on Xbox hardware and platform, he confirmed that Microsoft’s games will continue to show up in more and more platforms. He stressed that Xbox’s future lies in embracing player preferences rather than pushing hardware loyalty. He also talked about the financial upside of cross-platform sales, noting that the 70% revenue from games sold on third-party storefronts supports the company’s ability to “build great portfolios”.
Recently, it was reported that a Work In Progress Starfield Creation for ship decals included the PlayStation logo among supported platforms. The listing was removed from the Starfield Creations website shortly after. Read about it here.
