Starfield Switch 2 Version Reportedly in Development, but Progress Said to Be Uneven

by Salal Awan

A potential Switch 2 version of Starfield is reportedly in development, though early progress may not be going as planned. The claim comes from insider NateTheHate2, who shared a brief update when asked about the status of the port.

Responding to a question on social media, the insider stated, “It’s in development but it hasn’t been a smooth process. Cross fingers and hope for the best.”

The report surfaces as Bethesda prepares a major milestone update for Starfield. The studio recently confirmed that the game will receive what it describes as its most significant overhaul yet on April 7, 2026, aligning with its release on PlayStation 5. This update introduces the Free Lanes feature, enabling seamless interplanetary travel, alongside the Terran Armada story expansion, which adds new threats and gameplay elements such as the Moon Jumper vehicle.

Originally launched in September 2023 for Xbox Series X S and PC, Starfield continues to expand across platforms. The upcoming update also brings a permanent price adjustment to $49.99, with pre-orders for the PlayStation 5 version having opened on March 18, 2026.
