State of Play Japan November 2025: Every Major Announcement and Reveal

Sony Interactive Entertainment aired a 40-minute State of Play Japan broadcast on November 11, 2025, offering a packed lineup of announcements, new trailers, and release date confirmations for both major franchises and independent projects. Hosted by Japanese voice actor Yuki Kaji, the presentation highlighted the diversity of Japan’s game development scene while featuring updates from studios across Asia.

Among the key announcements was BlazBlue Entropy Effect X, a roguelike action spin-off launching February 12, 2026, for PlayStation 5. The game allows players to craft custom character builds using 14 returning fighters and introduces a new narrative arc. Visual novel horror fans received updates from BrokenLore, with BrokenLore: Unfollow confirmed for release on January 16, 2026, alongside the reveal of BrokenLore: Ascend, a Tokyo-set psychological survival horror title.

Square Enix unveiled new footage from Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, releasing February 5, 2026, for PlayStation 5. The reimagining introduces an additional story chapter featuring an adult Keifer and enhanced visuals. Koei Tecmo followed with a new trailer for Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake, due out March 12, 2026, fully rebuilding the 2003 horror classic with updated graphics and gameplay refinements.

Capcom announced Monster Hunter Wilds Free Title Update 4, set to arrive on December 16, adding the Giant Halberd Dragon, Gogmazios, and new endgame events. FromSoftware confirmed Elden Ring: Nightreign – The Forsaken Hollows, releasing December 4, which introduces two playable Nightfarers—the Scholar and the Undertaker—along with new bosses and story content.

Other highlights included Dynasty Warriors Origins – Visions of Four Heroes DLC (January 22, 2026), Digimon Story Time Stranger: Alternate Dimension DLC (Winter 2025), and the Gran Turismo 7 Power Pack DLC (December 4), which adds authentic endurance racing events and 24-hour circuits.

Several smaller titles also stood out. Coffee Talk Tokyo, launching March 5, 2026, invites players to run a cozy café for humans and yōkai in Tokyo. inKonbini: One Store. Many Stories (April 2026) explores everyday life through the eyes of a convenience store clerk, while Damon & Baby (Early 2026) blends twin-stick shooter mechanics with emotional storytelling. Meanwhile, MotionRec (Spring 2026) introduces a record-and-replay puzzle mechanic that lets players manipulate their past actions to solve challenges.

Action RPG Kyouran Makaism, developed by the team behind Disgaea, launches January 29, 2026, featuring creature transformations and humor-driven combat. No Sleep for Kaname Date – From AI: The Somnium Files arrives February 26, 2026, continuing Spike Chunsoft’s acclaimed detective series. Additionally, Never Grave: The Witch and The Curse (March 5, 2026) revealed a new gameplay trailer showcasing boss encounters and spell customization.

Multiplayer titles featured prominently as well. Fate Trigger, a tactical hero shooter, begins early access in Q1 2026 with two new heroes and a new map. MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls opens its next closed beta on December 5, adding Spider-Man and Ghost Rider to the roster. Bandai Namco announced new crossovers for Super Robot Wars Y (November 20), while Sonic Racing: Crossworlds introduces a SpongeBob SquarePants collaboration pack on November 19.

Classic series also made a return. Tokyo Xtreme Racer races back to PlayStation for the first time in two decades, launching February 25, 2026, with more than 400 rivals and 180 kilometers of drivable highways. Pac-Man World 2: Re-Pac added a Sonic the Hedgehog collaboration DLC available immediately, and Once Upon a Katamari introduced new music packs arriving later this winter.

Closing the show, Sony unveiled new hardware: a 27-inch PlayStation Gaming Monitor with a built-in DualSense charging hook, launching in 2026. The QHD IPS display supports HDR, VRR, and refresh rates up to 240 Hz for PC and 120 Hz on PS5 and PS5 Pro consoles.

With a mix of established franchises and experimental indie projects, State of Play Japan November 2025 underscored Sony’s continued focus on regional talent and cross-market appeal across Asia.
