PlayStation has announced that its next State of Play presentation will spotlight 007 First Light, offering an in-depth look at IO Interactive’s highly anticipated James Bond game. Scheduled for September 3, the broadcast will begin at 11 a.m. PT, 7 p.m. BST, and 8 p.m. CEST, streaming live on PlayStation’s official Twitch and YouTube channels.
The presentation will feature over 30 minutes of uninterrupted gameplay, showcasing Bond’s first mission as an MI6 recruit. Players can expect to see a full range of espionage action, from fast-paced car chases to tense stealth segments and high-intensity shootouts. Following the gameplay demonstration, IO Interactive developers will provide commentary and share further details about their creative approach to the iconic franchise.
Yann Roskell, Senior Global Communication Manager at IO Interactive, introduced the event with enthusiasm. “Prepare for a deep dive on 007 First Light! During this special State of Play, the development team at IO Interactive declassifies new gameplay on James Bond’s upcoming espionage action-adventure thrill ride,” Roskell stated.
007 First Light marks the first major James Bond video game in over a decade. The last title, 007 Legends, was released in 2012 under Activision, but the publisher later lost its non-exclusive license. IO Interactive announced its new project in November 2020 and shifted into full production after completing Hitman 3 in 2021. The game was officially revealed during June’s State of Play earlier this year, where the debut trailer offered fans their first glimpse at Bond’s reimagined origin story.
Set for release in 2026, 007 First Light will launch on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X/S. Designed as an original narrative inspired by Ian Fleming’s works and the long-running film series, the game will chronicle Bond’s earliest mission on his path to earning the legendary license to kill.
