Nintendo has unveiled new details for Super Mario Bros. Wonder Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park, confirming expanded multiplayer options, new gameplay features, and additional content tailored specifically for the Nintendo Switch 2. The updated edition is set to launch on March 26, 2026, alongside a paid upgrade pack for existing owners of the original game on the new hardware.
The centerpiece of this release is Bellabel Park, a new area within the Flower Kingdom designed around cooperative and competitive play. The park features two large plazas filled with attractions that allow players to either team up or compete directly against one another. Activities include coin-collecting challenges, such as Fast Cash: Tip Tap’s Coin Spree, and survival-focused modes like Knock ’em Back: Bubble Blaster, where players attempt to outlast their opponents.
Bellabel Park supports several distinct multiplayer setups. The Local Multiplayer Plaza includes 17 different attraction types and allows up to 4 players on a single system. With GameShare support, one copy of the game can be shared locally with up to 3 additional players. The Game Room Plaza expands this further by offering local wireless and online play, where each participant uses their own system. In this mode, up to 12 players can compete across 6 additional attractions, each playing on their own screen.
Beyond the new plazas, the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition introduces several new features that integrate with the main Super Mario Bros. Wonder experience. The Toad Brigade Training Camp adds a series of challenge courses drawn from locations across the Flower Kingdom. As players progress through the main game, more training courses become available. These challenges can be tackled solo or with up to 3 other players, with rankings tied to advancement within the Toad Brigade.
An Assist Mode has also been added for players who want a more forgiving experience. When enabled, players can quickly recover from falling into pits without losing a life and avoid taking damage regardless of character choice. The mode is intended to make the game more accessible without placing pressure on less experienced players.
The updated edition also introduces Rosalina to the Flower Kingdom for the first time in Super Mario Bros. Wonder. She is joined by Co-Star Luma, an assist character available during multiplayer sessions with at least 2 players. Luma does not take damage and can help defeat enemies and collect coins. Players can also directly control Luma using the Nintendo Switch 2 mouse control functionality.
New challenges arrive in the form of the Koopalings, who play a larger role in Bellabel Park. After stealing treasure from the area, the seven Koopalings scatter across different worlds in the Flower Kingdom. Encountering one triggers a dedicated course where players must battle them directly, adding new combat-focused encounters to the overall progression.
Nintendo confirmed that players who already own Super Mario Bros. Wonder and a Nintendo Switch 2 will be able to access the new content through a purchasable upgrade pack. Pre-orders for the upgrade pack are now available via My Nintendo Store and the Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch 2.
Launching alongside the updated game on March 26 are 3 new amiibo figures: Elephant Mario, Poplin and Prince Florian, and Captain Toad and Talking Flower. In addition, a Talking Flower interactive item will be released separately on March 12 at Nintendo New York, Nintendo San Francisco, My Nintendo Store, and select retailers, with pre-orders opening today through My Nintendo Store.
Super Mario Bros. Wonder Nintendo Switch 2 Edition plus Meetup in Bellabel Park arrives March 26, expanding the Flower Kingdom with new ways to play together and fresh content designed to take advantage of Nintendo Switch 2 features.
