Bandai Namco Entertainment has officially confirmed that Super Saiyan 4 Goku from Dragon Ball Daima will be joining Dragon Ball FighterZ as a new DLC fighter in Spring 2026. The announcement marks the first major new character addition in nearly four years, signaling continued support for the acclaimed 2.5D fighting game developed by Arc System Works.

The reveal was accompanied by news of an upcoming balance update scheduled for release on October 12, which will refine several mechanics and add “strategic depth” to the game’s defensive system, Z Reflect. Bandai Namco noted that the full patch notes will be released on the same day, offering players detailed insights into character adjustments and new balance changes designed to refresh the competitive landscape.

The addition of Goku (Super Saiyan 4, Daima) carries particular significance for longtime fans. While the game already features a version of Super Saiyan 4 Goku inspired by Dragon Ball GT, this new iteration draws directly from Dragon Ball Daima, the upcoming anime series that reimagines the franchise’s heroes through a new storyline and art direction. The character is expected to feature a distinct moveset and visual style reflecting Daima’s tone, further diversifying the roster’s representation of different Dragon Ball eras.

In addition to the DLC reveal, Bandai Namco confirmed that Dragon Ball FighterZ will once again take center stage at the Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2026 with the FighterZ Masters Showdown. Returning legends of the competitive scene—GO1, Hikari, SonicFox, Wawa, Wade, and Yasha—will face off in high-stakes exhibition matches. The event will also feature on-site qualifiers, giving skilled players the chance to challenge some of the best fighters in the world.

Since its original release in 2018, Dragon Ball FighterZ has maintained a thriving player base and strong critical reputation, selling over 10 million copies worldwide as of May 2023. Its team-based combat system, striking cel-shaded visuals, and faithful adaptation of the Dragon Ball universe have cemented its status as one of the most respected fighting games of the modern era.

The game has also enjoyed a robust post-launch lifecycle through multiple FighterZ Passes, each adding fan-favorite characters across the franchise’s history. These have included iconic additions such as Vegito (Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan), Broly (Dragon Ball Super), and Gogeta (Super Saiyan 4). The introduction of Super Saiyan 4 Goku (Daima) continues this tradition, marking the first new DLC since Android 21 (Lab Coat) debuted in 2022.
