Switch 2 Mario Kart World Bundle Reportedly Discontinued by Nintendo

by Salal Awan

Nintendo appears to have discontinued production of its official Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle, according to new retail information shared by Nintendeal. An internal GameStop memo confirms that the bundle has reached the end of its lifecycle and will no longer be manufactured, signaling a shift in how Nintendo plans to supply its next-generation console moving forward.

The memo states, “This bundle SKU has now reached end of lifecycle, and additional units will no longer be produced. Future replenishment of Nintendo Switch 2 will be the base console.” It further notes that while inventory remains available, the bundle should still be recommended to customers due to its added value compared to purchasing the console and game separately. Once existing stock is depleted, GameStop expects to carry only the standard Switch 2 hardware.

While GameStop has formally marked the bundle as discontinued, it is still available at select retailers. Best Buy, for example, continues to sell the Switch 2 plus Mario Kart World bundle for $449. At that price point, Mario Kart World is effectively included at no additional cost, making it a compelling option for buyers who can still find stock. However, availability is expected to last only while current inventory holds.

The Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle was launched alongside the console on June 5, 2025, and was marketed as a premium option for early adopters. Priced at $499 at launch, the bundle offered a $30 discount compared to purchasing the $449 console and the $79 game separately. It included a digital download code for Mario Kart World, which features a seamless open-world overworld and supports expanded racing for up to 24 players.

The decision to end production comes amid ongoing shortages of key components used in gaming consoles and PCs. With rising costs associated with RAM and SSD pricing, there is growing speculation that console hardware could become more expensive leading into 2026. When the bundle was initially announced, it was revealed that it would only be available for a limited time, until Fall 2025. Given the timing, production of the bundle has now ceased as well.

For now, the Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle remains one of the most sought after versions of Nintendo’s latest console. That said, its availability is clearly entering the final stretch, and future restocks of the Switch 2 will focus solely on the base system once remaining bundle inventory is exhausted.
