With Nintendo’s latest Direct set for September 12, new reports suggest that major third-party publishers are preparing significant announcements for the Switch 2. According to insider NateTheHate, Capcom is planning to bring its modern Resident Evil titles to the platform, while Konami is reportedly working on a Switch 2 port of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater.
The insider specifically noted that Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 are likely to be released as a bundled package rather than standalone purchases. This move, they argued, would be necessary to make the release appealing, given that the titles are regularly available at discounted prices on other platforms. A combined offering at a lower price point would provide an incentive for long-time fans to revisit the remakes on a portable device.
What stands out most in the report is the claim that these Resident Evil titles will have “feature parity” with their PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X counterparts. That includes support for ray tracing, 120 frames per second gameplay, and even gyro-based motion aiming using the Joy-Con or Pro Controller. Drawing comparisons to Resident Evil 4 on the Wii, the insider suggested that motion aiming could make the Switch 2 version the definitive way to play.
Beyond Capcom’s plans, Konami is also said to be preparing Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater for the new system. The game was recently released on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, and has already sold over a million copies. While the insider was uncertain how far along development of the Switch 2 port might be, they argued that with the Tokyo Game Show approaching, now would be an opportune moment for Konami to confirm its intentions.
The next Nintendo Direct will air on September 12 at 6 a.m. PT and is scheduled to run for approximately 60 minutes.
