Take-Two CEO Firmly Believes GTA VI Will Release On Schedule, Rockstar Working On “A Lot Of Other Things”

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has expressed his firm believe in the release schedule for Rockstar Games’ upcoming open world action game, GTA VI.

During an interview with CNBC, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick was asked about the recent delay of GTA VI, and his level of conviction regarding the upcoming open world action game meeting its release schedule. In response, he firmly stated that his level of conviction is “very, very, high”.

Zelnick was asked how of much of the development team at Rockstar Games is currently working on GTA VI. He responded by saying that while the studio does have “a lot of other things going on”, but the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is its primary focus.

Regarding whether the Take-Two CEO worries about the lofty expectations of Grand Theft Auto fans, he stated that the company tries not to pump expectations. He believes that Rockstar Games’ whole stock and trade is to have extraordinary expectations from fans and still be able to beat them. He added that he believes this is the studio’s goal with GTA VI and that the game will be “amazing”. The rest, he said, will be seen in due time.

Recently, a LinkedIn post from Josh Chapman, Managing Partner at Konvoy, revealed that the company expects GTA VI to have the largest gaming launch of all time, shattering records of copies sold and revenue generated within almost every period of time. He believes that it will break even on its 2 billion US Dollar investment within 30 days of release. Furthermore, he believes that GTA VI will cost $80, and that premium versions of  the game will also be available at launch. In addition, it is expected to be the next UGC platform. He said that it will have a UGC component that includes creator payouts for server hosts, mod creators, and more, mimicking the creator economics of UEFN and Roblox.
