Bandai Namco has confirmed that a new entry in its long-running Tales of remaster project will be revealed within the next 24 hours. However, it seems that the surprise may have already been spoiled ahead of time, with evidence pointing toward Tales of Xillia receiving the remaster treatment.
The publisher is hosting a livestream scheduled for August 19, 2025. The event is part of the broader celebration surrounding the Tales series 30th anniversary, with fans being invited to tune in for what has been described as a major update. While the company has remained vague, details slipped earlier this week may have already given away the big reveal.
The Bandai Namco Europe YouTube channel briefly uploaded a video titled “Tales of Series News,” which was quickly taken down. Despite being live for only about a minute, the mistake was enough for viewers to notice a reference to a remastered version of Tales of Xillia. Twitter user Lowedeltaa was among the first to draw attention to the posting, sparking discussion that the announcement is all but confirmed.
This would not be the first time hints of a Tales of Xillia remaster have surfaced. Last year, Czech retailer JRC listed the title for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. While no release date or price was disclosed, the listing did include tentative box art, lending some credibility to the possibility. If Bandai Namco follows the pricing structure of previous releases, such as Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition, fans can expect a figure close to 49.99 dollars.
The Tales franchise remains one of Bandai Namco’s most enduring RPG series, known for its action-oriented combat systems and ensemble casts. Tales of Xillia, originally released on the PlayStation 3, introduced dual protagonists Jude Mathis and Milla Maxwell, giving players the option to experience the story from different perspectives. A remaster would allow the title to reach a broader audience on modern platforms, potentially renewing interest in the game ahead of future series developments.
