Retailers Target and Walmart are no longer selling Xbox games, according to unconfirmed reports from alleged employees.
Individuals who allegedly work at Target and Walmart have claimed that both retailers are phasing out physical Xbox game sales. Reddit user Jawwaad127 mentioned that Target outlet they work for has removed all physical Xbox games from sale, and that they’re certain this is happening store-wide.

“On Wednesday, the Target I work for has removed all Xbox games and I’m pretty sure it will be store wide,” said the alleged Target employee. “All the games have been discontinued and will most likely go clearance. After all these years of selling Xbox games, it’s weird to see only PlayStation and Nintendo games being sold.”
The Target employee also expressed a sense of nostalgia, noting how browsing physical game aisles had been a personal tradition. “In 10 years, I’m pretty sure there will no video games in stores,” they said. “Just download cards. It’s definitely going make me sad due to me having so much nostalgia of me spending time in the video game sections of stores.”
Reddit user Spacefox_85, who claims to be a Walmart employee, responded by saying that the outlet they work at is also removing physical Xbox games from sale. “The Walmart store I work at is getting rid of Xbox games, too,” said the alleged Walmart employee. “We are doing a store remodel right now, and the new layout for Electronics will have no Xbox games, and Switch and PlayStation will be condensed to one lock case each. In the year or so I’ve been in Electronics there, I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve sold an Xbox game.”
If true, Target and Walmart wouldn’t be the first major retailers to remove Xbox products from sale. According to recent reports, Costco and EB Games have begun scaling back or outright removing Xbox consoles and branding from their stores and websites. Read about it here.
