Season 3 of Bandai Namco Entertainment’s fighting game, Tekken 8, may bring a major boss from The King of Fighters series as a guest character.
The latest update for Tekken 8 has added items to the Battle Pass that reference characters from the SNK universe, resulting in speculation (via VolSkimmer on Twitter/X) that a guest character from the King of Fighters series may be coming to the game in Season 3. As for who it may be, a hint dropped by producer Katsuhiro Harada regarding a certain Tekken 7 Season 2 character prior to announcement might just have given away the identity of Tekken 8 Season 3 guest character.
Possible Tekken 8 Season 3 Guest Character
Back in April, 2017, before Bandai Namco Entertainment announced Negan as a guest character for Tekken 7 Season 2, Harada joked about the possibility of the character being added to the game. “With ‘Lucille’?” he said in his Twitter/X post. “Haha nice idea. He is a historic villain, but he is too weak as a fighter. IMO.” His statement gave the impression that he didn’t find Negan to fit well in the Tekken series, yet he ended up being added as a guest character .
Harada also made an interesting remark in January, 2024, in response to a fan on Twitter/X, who wanted him to bring a character from SNK or The King of Fighters series over to Tekken 8. “Harada if you don’t bring anyone from SNK or KOF I will hunt you forever,” said the zealous fan. Harada responded by saying, “Okay! Then I’ll bring Rugal.”

The Tekken 8 producer mentioning Negan, followed by the characters arrival in Tekken 7, suggests that there’s possibly some context to his mention of The King of Fighters series’ recurring boss character, and that it may not have been a random statement.
Tekken 8 is available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC.
