Tekken 8 Story Mode Features QTE Options, “What If” Endings & More

The Story mode in Bandai Namco’s upcoming fighting game, Tekken 8, will feature QTE options, “what if” endings, and more.

During at presentation at Tokyo Game Show 2023 (via), Tekken 8 Producer Katsuhiro Harada and Game Director Kohei Ikeda revealed that the game’s Story mode will feature a QTE options as well as “what if” endings for 32 characters. It was also mentioned that the Story mode will set new standards in budget, storytelling and presentation.

Additionally, Harada stated that Tekken 8 features a huge amount of practice tools and modes for every level of players, including AI learning Ghost Battles, Training mode resets, Punishment Training, Interactive Replays, Frame Data, and more. The game will also include specific, in-depth tutorials to help players master their favorite characters. Tekken 8 will also mark the return of the Tekken Ball mode, Classic Outfits & Bikinis. Additionally, there are 6 more characters and other new features that have yet to be revealed.

Previously, speaking during an interview with Famitsu, Tekken 8 Game Director Kohei Ikeda and Marketing Producer Naoya Yasuda shared that the main story mode featured in Tekken 8 is much larger than the story mode in Tekken 7. Ikeda mentioned that the game had an enormous budget to the point where it shocked the development team. He stated that the Main Story mode in Tekken 8 is much bigger than the one seen in the previous entry, Tekken 7, and is separate from the Arcade Quest Mode. He described the Arcade Quest mode as an role-playing game inspired Tutorial mode. The mode will offer unique features and elements for players to discover. He wasn’t able to go into further detail, as there is certain information that is under wraps for a future reveal.

On the topic of customization, Ikeda stated that players can customize their character’s shoes individually. Additionally, thy can adjust accessory positions and sizes, though this purely for aesthetics so as to ensure that the gameplay remains unaffected. Players can also swap around certain outfits between characters who have some affiliation or rivalry.
