Bandai Namco’s Tekken 8 is set to receive a new balance update in September, officially confirmed by game director Kohei Ikeda, known in the community as Nakatsu. The announcement follows ongoing feedback from players concerning certain issues that emerged after the recent Ver. 2.03.01 patch. Addressing the community through social media, Nakatsu outlined the development team’s response and shared their plan for upcoming patches.
According to Nakatsu, the battle balance team has identified three key issues requiring immediate attention. These include balance adjustment concerns for the character Reina, an unintended correction for Devil Jin, and a numerical error in Kuma’s Power Crush ability, which has been causing a significant disadvantage for players using the character. The development team is actively working on fixes for these problems, with an emergency update planned for release sometime next week. The exact date will be announced through the official Tekken social media channels.
While this emergency patch will specifically address the priority issues, other feedback and bug reports received since the launch of the version 2.03.01 update are also under review. Nakatsu confirmed that a broader balance update, designated as Ver. 2.05, is targeted for release in September. This update will likely address additional concerns raised by the player community and provide further refinements to the game’s mechanics.
The recent Ver. 2.03.01 update introduced new content, including the playable character Fahkumram and the PAC-PIXELS battle stage. This update also delivered significant changes to the Tekken Fight Lounge, introducing new features such as a player list, message boards, and a warp-to-player function. Additionally, balance adjustments were made to Rage Arts and high-risk moves, with only Devil Jin receiving a character-specific buff. The update also launched the sixth round of the Tekken Fight Pass, featuring PAC-MAN collaboration items and a free customization pack from Atelier Yumia.
As the upcoming competitive season approaches, Bandai Namco Studios is focused on enhancing the Tekken 8 experience by balancing the demands of esports with feedback from the community. While the August update, version 2.04, is anticipated to exclude any balance changes due to ongoing esports events, the confirmed patch for September is expected to address player concerns comprehensively. This will help ensure the competitive integrity and gameplay balance of Tekken 8 as it moves forward.
