Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema are preparing to bring The Conjuring: Last Rites to home audiences, with the horror blockbuster reportedly set for release on digital and video-on-demand platforms beginning October 21, 2025. Fans will be able to purchase or rent the film through services such as Amazon Prime Video, iTunes, Vudu, and Google Play Movies & TV.
The ninth installment in the Conjuring franchise, Last Rites, has already proven itself a box office powerhouse. Directed by Michael Chaves and written by Ian Goldberg, Richard Naing, and David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, the film centers on the Warrens’ investigation into the notorious Smurl haunting case. Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga reprise their iconic roles as Ed and Lorraine Warren, joined by Mia Tomlinson and Ben Hardy.
Released theatrically on September 5, 2025, the film quickly surpassed several records, opening to the largest box office debut in the franchise’s history. In the United States, it has already earned over 136 million dollars, with projections placing it between 180 and 195 million dollars by the end of its domestic run. The movie recently passed the totals of Five Nights at Freddy’s and Final Destination: Bloodlines at the U.S. box office, positioning itself among the top-performing post-pandemic horror films. Globally, it has grossed an impressive 356 million dollars, making it the second-highest-grossing entry in the Conjuring series.
While reviews have been mixed, audience demand remains high, especially from those waiting to revisit the film at home. With the October 21 digital release, The Conjuring: Last Rites is set to reach a broader audience, allowing fans to experience the latest chilling chapter of the Wan-produced universe outside of theaters.
