The first major raid race of Destiny 2’s The Edge of Fate expansion has concluded, with Team Nuts securing the coveted World First title for The Desert Perpetual raid. After an intense competition lasting approximately 15 hours and 35 minutes, Bungie officially confirmed their completion of the raid on Contest Mode, signaling the end of one of the most challenging raid races in the game’s recent history.
The victorious fireteam, known within the community as Team Nuts, consists of members Dabs, Enskeria, Ham, Milito, mitcH, and Silken. Their achievement was formally acknowledged by Bungie on social media, marking them as the first team to clear the raid’s formidable encounters under the stringent limitations of Contest Mode. This mode, active for the first 48 hours, caps player power levels and disables a variety of powerful weapons, mods, and progression mechanics to ensure a balanced competitive environment.
Bungie’s confirmation came shortly after reports from within the Destiny 2 community began circulating, highlighting Team Nuts’ impressive feat. The studio’s acknowledgment read, “Congratulations to the fireteam on their world’s first completion of The Desert Perpetual Raid on Contest Mode!”
As per tradition, the successful completion of the raid in Contest Mode has now unlocked the standard version of The Desert Perpetual for all players who own The Edge of Fate expansion. Guardians can now visit Dean Rebecca on Kepler to begin their journey into the perilous depths of the raid, free from the restrictions of Contest Mode.
The raid itself is set within the mysterious realm of the Nine, presenting a series of unforgiving challenges that require precise coordination, adaptability, and deep knowledge of Destiny 2’s evolving mechanics. The world-first race drew widespread attention across the community, with Bungie hosting a pre-show broadcast and prominent streamers such as CBGray and Evanf1997 offering live coverage. Players also had the opportunity to earn exclusive Twitch drops, adding an interactive layer to the community event.
Earlier coverage noted that several high-profile raid teams, including groups led by well-known players like aTides, Datto, Koregos, and Tyraxe, made significant progress. However, despite strong early performances, Team Nuts emerged as the ultimate victors. The runner-up position was unofficially secured by aTides’ team, who finished shortly after.
This successful raid completion comes at a pivotal time for Destiny 2, as The Edge of Fate ushers in the new Fate saga following the conclusion of the long-running Light and Darkness narrative arc. The expansion has introduced sweeping changes to gameplay, gear management, and power progression, all of which directly influenced the strategies and outcomes of this world-first competition.
