The Division 2 Year 8 Season 1 Rise Up Update Detailed

The Division 2 Year 8 Season 1 Rise Up update introduces a substantial set of endgame systems and gameplay changes. Headlining the update is Escalation, a new replayable activity designed to challenge high-level agents with tiered difficulty and scaling rewards.

Alongside this, the update brings Prototype Gear, new Exotics, and an overhaul to Retaliation events through the Agitation Overclock system. Additional features such as modular modifiers, new missions, and quality-of-life improvements further expand the gameplay experience.

Escalation Mode

  • Introduced Escalation endgame activity with 10 difficulty tiers
  • Weekly rotating missions and strongholds
  • Requires Level 40 and completed campaign
  • Token-based entry system with scaling rewards
  • No checkpoints, single-attempt runs
  • Supports solo play, group play, and matchmaking

Prototype Gear

  • Added new gear rarity above existing tiers
  • Increased attribute values up to 1.5 times previous limits
  • Introduced Augments with upgrade and reroll systems
  • Requires Prototype Cores for upgrades and rerolls
  • Available through Escalation and item upgrades
  • Not fully supported in PvP, raids, and incursions

Augments System

  • Added shared pool of gear effects across Prototype items
  • Includes effects such as Quantum, Echo, Atomize, and Paradox
  • Augments can be upgraded through usage
  • Reroll system allows effect customization

Retaliation Updates

Agitation Overclock

  • Introduced multi-level Agitation Meter
  • Allows up to three consecutive Retaliation events
  • Increased loot collection time from 30 seconds to 90 seconds

Black Tusk Enhancements

  • Black Tusk can now take over Control Points after failed Retaliations
  • Added DIAMOND Transceivers as new material drops
  • Introduced Black Tusk Maneuver objectives for bonus time

Kill Squads

  • Added Regular and Elite Black Tusk Kill Squads
  • Elite squad BTSU Team 9 offers higher difficulty and rewards
  • Drops blueprints for rare Exotics and Climax exclusives

Matchmaking Improvements

  • Added matchmaking for Retaliation events based on global difficulty

Modifiers System

Global Modifier Recombinant

  • Introduced modular system with Offense, Defense, and Utility stacks
  • Stack distribution can be adjusted via gameplay progression

Active Modifiers

  • Added Blackout Pulse, Cloud Armor, and Optimize Overload
  • Level-based upgrades unlock additional effects

Passive Modifiers

  • Added 34 passive modifiers affecting build behavior
  • Obtainable via Seasonal Journey or vendor

Hostile Countermeasures

  • Added enemy modifiers such as System Drain, Inversion Field, and Obstructor Virus

New Exotic Weapon

  • Agitator Assault Rifle with Perturb talent
  • Provides bonuses when swapped after being holstered

New Exotic Gear

  • Investor Exotic Mask with attribute-based bonuses

New Gear Sets

  • Core Strength gear set with Core Exercise talent
  • Royal Works brand set with weapon handling and critical bonuses

Named Weapons and Talents

  • Added Interchange and Trader weapons with Perfect Back and Forth talent
  • Introduced standard Back and Forth talent for weapon swapping builds

New Missions and Activities

Master Climax Mission

  • Guaranteed Whiplash Exotic Pistol on first completion
  • Higher difficulty increases drop chances afterward

Classified Assignments

  • Added Library of Congress Retrieval
  • Added The Capitol Globe Anomaly later in the season
  • Focus on exploration, collectibles, and narrative

Season Pass and Rewards

  • Premium Season Pass available for 1000 credits
  • Premium Plus bundle available with additional rewards
  • Includes cosmetics, Exotic weapon, gear, and currency
  • Free track includes gear, weapons, and cosmetics

Additional Content

  • Added One Time Offer bundle with credits and exclusive cosmetic
  • Introduced new bug reporting system for player feedback

Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 launched on March 15, 2019, and is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. Year 8 Season 1 Rise Up update was released on April 1, 2026.
